Paul Renner’s vision of eden in a post WW1 landscape was the typeface “Futura” made in 1927. With the rise of Bauhaus and other futuristic movements the aim was to capture the spirit of modernity and push forward an non-destructive, utopian identity. Using the Futura typeface that focused on clean lines, less aggressive stance and a future forward principle added together with a dystopian image of Sharjah, I wanted to combine two retrofuturistic elements, blending the worlds of digital & analog by allowing them to coexist thoughtfully in the same image.
